Located in Providence, Rhode Island, the John Brown House Museum is situated in a house that was completed in 1788 by Brown, a businessman, patriot, politician, China trade pioneer, and slave trader. The house also was home to Brown's daughters and their families, the winter residence of the Gammell family during the second half of the 19th century, and the formidable mansion of Marseden Perry, the Providence utility, real estate, and trolley mogul of the early 20th century.
