The University Green District is a historic site located at the top of a hill on the University of Vermont campus in Burlington, Vermont. The place, founded in 1791, is now home to the State Agricultural College, as well as the University of Vermont. The Green District consists of 29 buildings, all surrounded by open, green expanses of grass. It is protected from development on the request by Ira Allen – the person who donated the land. Some of the outstanding buildings include the Old Mill, Billings Library, - designed by H.H. Richardson – the Ira Allen Chapel, and Waterman Hall. The Redstone Campus of UVM is situated nearby. As it represents different aspects of Vermont's rich heritage, the University Green District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (1975).
