Alpena Community College offers two-year degrees, one-year certificates, customized training and cultural opportunities to the students. The college is governed by a board of trustees consisting of seven members. Even though a two year college, Alpena Community College offers courses which are equivalent in content and quality to freshman and sophomore courses at four-year colleges and universities. It boasts about eight classrooms, computer and science labs, a two-way interactive room, administrative and counseling offices and a developmental instruction lab. Alpena Community College has won accreditation from the Michigan Commission on College Accreditation, North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, Michigan Board of Nursing, and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The college has an agreement with the U.S. Department of Education to provide Pell Grants and other federal aid such as direct loans for eligible students. Alpena Community College offers a wide variety of social, academic, athletic, cultural and service opportunities to students, which help them to meet new people, broaden their interests and have fun.
