Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) is located in the foothills of eastern Kentucky. A part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, the college was formed by the consolidation of Ashland Community College and Ashland Technical College on July 1, 2003. This comprehensive institution of higher education offers diverse learning opportunities from liberal-arts education to sophisticated technical programs. Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the ACTC offers university-parallel programs for those transferring to a baccalaureate institution and career programs for advancement in professional fields. In addition, it responds to the needs of local business and industry for state-of-the-art workforce training. The college operates three campuses: College Drive Campus in Ashland, Roberts Drive Campus in the Summit area and Technology Drive Campus at EastPark. It offers a comprehensive range of programs of study for those seeking an associate's degree. Some of the programs include air conditioning technology, applied process technologies, automotive technology, electrical technology, industrial maintenance technology, criminal justice, human services, information technology, interdisciplinary early childhood education, office systems technology, pharmacy technology, and radiography. To meet the educational, cultural, and social needs and interests of students, the college promotes various organizations, clubs, and activities. The Learning Assistance Center on the College Drive Campus offers learning-support resources to improve academic skills. Financial assistance for eligible student is provided through the office of Financial Aid. Additional facilities include the Advising and Transfer Center, Bookstore, Testing Center which offers a variety of testing ranging from ACT testing to Business and Industry testing; Career Resource, and Job Placement Center. The ACTC Theater, Lifelong Learning, Cooperative Education and Kinder College round out the services offered. For the students’ convenience, it has two locations for library services: College Drive Campus and Roberts Drive Campus. The library holds the Ashworth Collection of books, periodicals, pamphlets, and videos that provide information about learning disabilities; government documents and periodicals. As an educational institution, ACTC provides a learning environment that fosters effective communication, personal enrichment, professional and intellectual growth, career and decision-making skills.
