Established in 1874 by Rev. Edward Duffield Neill, Macalester College is a premier private liberal arts college located in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is accredited by the Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Macalester College offers degrees in a variety of majors and an honors program. The average class size is an 11-to-one student-faculty ratio. The Katharine Ordway Natural History Study Area is spread over an area of 280 acres of lush land in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. It was established in 1967, by Macalester College for biological and environmental education, restoration activities, and to protect the natural environment.
