Colonel Harlan Sanders Museum

The Colonel Harlan Sanders Museum is located at the Kentucky Fried Chicken headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. The museum was established in 1978 by Colonel Harland Sanders who began franchising his chicken business at the age of 65. The museum offers a wide selection of old KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) commercials, his biographical film Portrait of a Legend, the Colonel's first pot and his Restaurateur of the Year award, which is a wire frame chicken laying a golden egg. Colonel Sanders established Sanders Cafe, the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, in 1940. It was there that the recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken was first developed by Sanders. That Colonel's original restaurant and office at Corbin is restored as a museum. The Kentucky museum is also filled with all manner of figurines of Sanders with a variety of ornaments with the Colonel's likeness.
