Granville Stanley Hall was born on February 1, 1844 in Ashfield, New York. He had a long career as pioneering American psychologist and educator, with particular interests in the areas of childhood development and evolutionary theory. He served as the first president of the American Psychological Association as well as the first president of Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
